Ivy Halter Top - Polka Dot
Ivy Halter Top - Polka Dot
The Ivy Halter Neck Top offers an exaggerated collar, shirred back with three feature buttons.
We have used organic remnant linen fabric sourced from the deadstock fabric markets of Ho Chi Minh City. This limited edition print can not be repeated - we bought the last metres available.
Designed with fashion history in mind
Every generation has had a halter neck moment. In the 1930's the style rose to fame after designers and makers created evening wear inspired by Asian clothing (picture the traditional Chinese silk high neck cheongsam dresses). Halterneck formal dresses became popular then the style was use in swimsuits in the 40's which were popularised by the Hollywood celebrities of the time. In the 60's we were ditching our bra for a more revelaing halter neck style then in the 90's it made a return.
In 2024 I have reimagined the iconic style with a collar originally known as a tapered collar. When famous actor John Barrymore religiously wore one in the 1970's it gradually became known by his name.
The Ivy Halter top features 3 antique inspired buttons, a shirred and full zipper allowing to adjust to bust size and a coconut shell button to fasten at nape.
